FHFA Announces Higher Loan Limits for 2023

Wednesday, November 30, 2022

As the result of a higher average U.S. home price in 2022, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has announced new, higher maximum conforming loan limits for 2023.

In most areas of the country, the 2023 maximum loan amount for one-unit properties will be $726,200, an increase from $647,200 in 2022. The new FHA loan limit has increased to $472,030 from $420,690 in 2022. In high-cost areas, the new maximum high balance loan limit is $1,089,300. And the VA loan limit remains at $1,500,000.

Loan limits may vary by county. Click here for a list and map of maximum loan limits for all counties and county-equivalent areas in the U.S.
