If the browser or extension that you (or person that you authorize to act on your behalf (your “Authorized Agent”) are using supports Global Privacy Control (GPC) (click here for information about GPC), you can use the GPC opt-out preference signal to instruct us not to sell or share any of your personal information collected online. The GPC opt-out preference signal will apply to only the computer, device, platform, or browser that you use to access the Websites. You can use the GPC opt-out preference signal by turning on the signal on your computer, device, platform, or browser settings. You must opt out on each computer, device, platform, and browser.

If you submit a request by visiting My Privacy Choices or by email, you must provide us with sufficient information for us to reasonably verify that you are the person about whom we collected the personal information and describe your request with sufficient detail for us to properly evaluate and respond to it. In doing so, we will take steps to verify your request by matching the information that you provide us with your request with the information that we maintain in our records. Only you, or your Authorized Agent, can make a request related to your personal information. If you are an Authorized Agent making a request on behalf of another person, you must provide us with signed documentation that you are authorized to act on behalf of that person.

Vermont Residents Only: As an “opt-in” state, Vermont’s Privacy of Consumer Financial and Health Information Regulation and the Vermont Fair Credit Reporting Act give Vermont consumers certain rights that aren’t disclosed in this policy. Financial institutions can’t share a Vermont consumer’s nonpublic personal financial information with a nonaffiliated third party without the consumer’s written, or if the consumer agrees, electronic authorization. We treat all consumers with a Vermont mailing address as if they have limited sharing with nonaffiliated third parties. For joint marketing, we can only disclose your name, contact information, and information about your transactions and experiences with us. The Vermont Fair Credit Reporting Act prohibits us and our Affiliates from obtaining information about a Vermont consumer’s creditworthiness without first obtaining the consumer’s consent. We treat all consumers with a Vermont mailing address as if they have limited sharing with our Affiliates, except when a Vermont consumer has opted in to such sharing and has not thereafter revoked their opt-in choice.

17. Do you secure my personal information?
Electronic communications such as email, text messages, and social-media messaging are neither secure nor confidential. Although we have adopted policies and procedures to aid in avoiding fraud, even the best security protections still can be bypassed by unauthorized parties. We will never send you any electronic communication with instructions to transfer funds or to provide nonpublic personal information such as credit card or debit numbers or bank account or routing numbers.

YOU SHOULD NEVER TRANSMIT NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD NUMBERS OR BANK ACCOUNT OR ROUTING NUMBERS BY EMAIL, TEXT MESSAGE, OR OTHER UNSECURED ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION. EMAILS OR TEXT MESSAGES ATTEMPTING TO INDUCE FRAUDULENT WIRE TRANSFERS ARE COMMON AND MAY APPEAR TO COME FROM A TRUSTED SOURCE.

If you receive any electronic communication directing you to transfer funds or provide nonpublic personal information, EVEN IF THAT ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION APPEARS TO BE FROM US OR OUR NON-MORTGAGE AFFILIATES, don’t respond to it and immediately contact us. Such requests, even if they may otherwise appear to be from us or our Non-Mortgage Affiliates, are likely part of a scheme to defraud you by stealing funds from you or using your identity to commit a crime.
